happy new belated year...
eat. sleep. work. repeat. i'm constantly on the go. i'm a full-time graphic designer, hair dresser, and freelancer, because of this, i often forget to take time out for myself.
a little over a month ago, my fiance, kevin, and i started doing cross fit. we had talked about doing it before, but couldn't justify spending the money while trying to plan for our future. luckily, we found a deal on groupon and decided to check it out. (thanks jess!) for the new year, we decided to continue cross fit and begin a healthier lifestyle. fortunately for us, CFR (CrossFit Renaissance ) is having a 30-day paleo challenge. perfect way to start the new year.
shh, i know im already three days behind but better late then never.
[ new years eve ] 12.31.12
So, the first step to this challenge was to box up everything in the kitchen that was not paleo. (sugar, dairy, grains, processed foods) then we headed out to stock up on everything paleo. we got a lot of our information from this book, primal body primal mind along with websites and blogs. since fast food and beer is not paleo, for dinner we had chipotle (figured we'd use the gift card from christmas) and a few beers.
[ new years day ] 1.1.13
breakfast | since we decided we were going to CF at noon and woke up a little later than we had planned, kevin made scrambled eggs. quick + easy. actually, most of the day ended up being an egg kind of day...we weren't as prepared as we thought. so we ended up with salad for lunch and more eggs for dinner. kev got a little fancy with the eggs for dinner, he added some green, red + yellow peppers, smoked sausage and a slice raw unpasteurized cheese. (i'm still trying to figure out how paleo this is, i've been reading mixed things...open to comments on this one)
[ day two ] 1.2.13
i overslept. i'm usually out the door by 8am and on my way to work in west chester, pa. nope, not today... i decided to sleep until 8. fml. what a great way to start the new year. it's good thing i boiled eggs and prepped my lunch before bed. have you ever tried peeling a hard boiled egg while driving a manual...?

[ day three ] 1.3.13
mr. kitty's new thing is stepping on my head while i'm sleeping/trying to sleep. which is probably one of the reasons why i woke up with a headache. ugh. or maybe it was my uncertainty of whether or not coffee was paleo... hmm.

warm up: 3 rounds of 10 kb swings (these are starting to become easy moving to 16kg next week) // 10 squats then deadlifts 3,3,3,3,3 (max 55kg = 122lbs)
WOD: 10 rounds for time 5 pull up // 10 sit-ups // 15 squats --->8 rounds. my weakness pull-ups. >:
i'm pretty sure i have been converting my kg = lbs wrong this entire time! so frustrating. thanks kevin, for the clarification. :)
when i came home from cf dinner was already on the table. (yay! no cooking for me) My friends and family know i do not go belong in the kitchen. (when i was about 12 i made breakfast for my dad and somehow soap ended up in his omelet. don't ask) BUT i did make paleo cinnamon swirl banana cake over the holidays. dinner was absolutely delicious, i actually can't remember the last time i had shirmp.
we realized that meal planning is essential if we want to be successful with this challenge. i think this challenge is a great way for kevin and i to spend some quality time together.
according to my CF trainer (bill) coffee is paleo!! (without the cream and sugar of course. thank god!)
3 days down, 27 to go...
